3 March 2026 – Barcelona: At MWC-26, the EQUALS Global Partnership convened leaders from across the mobile industry, international organizations, and the private sector for the #ChangeTheFace Summit: Gender-Inclusive Approaches for Business and Social Impact. The session highlighted how data, accountability, and partnership are driving measurable progress toward closing the gender digital divide.
EQUALS Gender Inclusivity Index Pilot Findings

The first part of the session featured the presentation of the EQUALS Gender Inclusivity Index Pilot Key Findings, showcasing how mobile network operators are translating commitments into concrete action. and providing an evidence-based framework to help identify gaps, strengthen internal policies, and track progress toward gender equality goals. Through practical insights and real-world examples, representatives from EY, Women’s WorldWide Web (W4), M-Kopa, and Azercell discussed what is working across the industry, the challenges that remain, and how inclusive leadership can unlock tangible benefits for employees, customers, and communities.
The session concluded with remarks from the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), who reaffirmed the global commitment to closing the gender digital divide and ensuring that women and girls can fully participate in digital transformation. Highlighting the importance of data-driven tools such as the EQUALS Gender Inclusivity Index, she underscored the need for continued collaboration across governments, industry, and international partners to turn commitments into measurable outcomes.

Following the closing address, the EQUALS in Tech Awards winners were officially announced at MWC-26. The ceremony was opened by the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, who reaffirmed the global commitment to closing the gender digital divide and ensuring that women and girls can fully participate in the digital transformation.
