In 2016, the EQUALS Global Partnership was launched with a shared conviction: women and girls must be able not only to access the digital world, but to shape it, lead in it and benefit fully from the opportunities it creates.
Ten years later, EQUALS brings together partners across governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia and civil society around that same ambition: achieving digital gender equality.
Launched today, in the framework of Digital@UNGA 2026, EQUALS at 10 : A Decade of Partnership, Impact and Action to Close the Gender Digital Divide traces the evolution of the Partnership, highlights key initiatives, research and achievements, and celebrates the organizations and people who have helped turn a shared vision into action. But this anniversary is also about what comes next.
As technology continues to transform our economies and societies — from artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to the changing world of work — ensuring that women and girls can participate, lead and thrive is more important than ever.
With a renewed mission, governance and thematic workstreams, EQUALS enters its next decade with an ambitious goal: to achieve digital gender equality by 2035 and empower 100 million women and girls to become active contributors to the digital economy.
The past ten years have shown what partnership can make possible.
Now, it is time to write the next chapter together.
